What Does It Do?

One formula, five jobs. Each one is done by a named complex at a stated dose, not by a promise.

  • Athletic performance and recovery

Blackcurrant polyphenols have been studied for supporting blood flow for performance, endurance and recovery after exercise. Creatine, BCAAs, L-carnitine and CoQ10 support energy production in muscle during hard efforts. Magnesium supports normal muscle function. Take it daily and the training does the rest.

  • Healthspan and longevity

The brand thesis in one scoop. Anthocyanins from blackcurrant support the body's defence against oxidative stress. Creatine, taken daily alongside training, supports the muscle mass and strength that decline with age. Nothing here extends life. It supports the body you will be living in for the rest of it.

  • Gut health

Five named probiotic strains, 15 billion CFU, paired with 950mg of green banana resistant starch and 200mg of gum acacia for them to feed on. Together they support a healthy gut environment, normal digestion and the absorption of everything else in the scoop. This is the complex Pete wrote first.

  • Brain health

Four organic functional mushrooms and taurine, which contributes to normal nervous system function. Vitamins B1, B3, B6 and B12 contribute to normal psychological function and energy metabolism. No caffeine, so no spike and no crash. Support for a steady day, not a stimulant.

  • Immunity

Zinc, selenium and vitamin C each contribute to normal immune function. The probiotic complex supports it from the gut, where most of the immune system lives. The organic greens bring the plant compounds a short-on-vegetables day misses. A daily baseline, kept up, is the whole strategy.

How To Take Athletic Nutrients

One scoop, one glass, once a day. The benefits compound over time,  so the routine matters more than the timing.

The Six Complexes

Thirty-six ingredients, grouped by what they do. Every dose below is the dose on the label.

  • Polyphenols

Blackcurrants are among the richest fruit sources of anthocyanins, the pigments that make dark berries dark. New Zealand blackcurrants carry more of them than the same fruit grown elsewhere, which is why ours come from there. Anthocyanins have been studied for their role in supporting blood vessel function and recovery after exercise. They are also what turns the drink into a deep violet.

Every serve: 2,000mg New Zealand blackcurrant whole-fruit powder.

  • Probiotics and prebiotics

Five probiotic strains, each named on the label by strain code, not just species. They are paired with two prebiotic fibres, green banana resistant starch and gum acacia, which the bacteria feed on. Together they support a healthy gut environment, normal digestion and nutrient absorption. Pete spent five years researching the microbiome. This is the part of the formula he wrote first.

Every serve: 15 billion CFU across five strains, 950mg green banana resistant starch, 200mg gum acacia.

  • Nootropics and adaptogens

Four organic functional mushrooms, cordyceps, reishi, shiitake and tremella, alongside taurine, an amino acid found at high concentrations in the brain, heart and muscle. Adaptogens are used to support the body's response to physical and mental stress. Taurine contributes to normal nervous system function. There is no caffeine in the formula, so none of this comes with a crash.

Every serve: 700mg mushroom blend, 55mg taurine.

  • Amino acids and energy

Creatine monohydrate, the three branched-chain amino acids in a 1:2:1 ratio, L-carnitine and CoQ10. Creatine supports the regeneration of ATP in short, hard efforts. BCAAs contribute to muscle protein synthesis. L-carnitine carries fatty acids into the mitochondria. CoQ10 is part of the chain that turns them into energy. The creatine here contributes to your daily intake; a full training dose is 3 to 5g, which is what the standalone Creatine is for.

    Every serve: 1,185mg creatine monohydrate, 900mg BCAAs, 115mg L-carnitine, 15mg CoQ10.

  • Organic greens

Spirulina, chlorella, alfalfa, wheatgrass and barley grass, certified organic and in equal parts. Spirulina and chlorella are complete proteins and sources of iron and B vitamins. The grasses bring chlorophyll, minerals and plant compounds. This is wholefood nutrition for the days vegetables do not happen. It is one complex of six, not the whole formula.

Every serve: 6,500mg organic greens blend.

  • Vitamins and minerals

The baseline, in the forms the body absorbs well. Magnesium as glycinate, which supports muscle function and sleep. Zinc as citrate, for normal immune function and tissue repair. Chromium and selenium. Vitamins B1, B3, B6 and B12 for energy metabolism. Vitamin C as calcium ascorbate, which is gentler on the stomach than ascorbic acid. The doses are deliberate, not megadoses, and every one is printed on the back of the pouch.

It Goes In Green. It Comes Out Violet.

The powder is dark green from 6,500mg of organic greens. Add water and 2,000mg of blackcurrant takes over, and the glass turns deep violet. No dye does that. Two sets of ingredients, each honest enough to show themselves. Everything else in the formula, you read on the label.

What The Research Says

  • Blackcurrant and endurance

In a randomised, placebo-controlled crossover trial, trained cyclists who took a New Zealand blackcurrant extract for seven days rode a 16.1km time trial 2.4% faster and burned more fat at moderate intensity. The researchers put it down to anthocyanins supporting peripheral blood flow. That study used a standardised extract rather than whole-fruit powder, so we treat it as a reason to use New Zealand fruit at a real dose, not a promise about your next race.

    Cook et al., 2015

  • Probiotics for people who train

The International Society of Sports Nutrition's position stand reviewed the evidence on probiotics in athletes. Its conclusion: specific strains can support gut health, nutrient absorption and immune function during heavy training, and the strain matters more than the species. That is why each of the five strains in Athletic Nutrients is named by code on the label, and why they come with the prebiotic fibre they feed on.

    Jäger et al., 2019

  • Creatine, honestly dosed

The same society's position stand on creatine calls monohydrate the most effective supplement available for high-intensity exercise capacity, at 3 to 5g a day. Athletic Nutrients carries 1,185mg per serve. That contributes to daily intake, and it is why the formula is not the place to get your full creatine dose. The standalone Creatine is.

Who Made It, Where, And Who Checked

  • Formulated by a pharmacist

Pete ran his own pharmacy for thirty years, then spent five in Europe researching gut health and the microbiome with a global innovation company. He wrote this formula the way he read labels behind the counter: dose first, name second, nothing hidden. Adam, his son, built the brand around it. They argue over every ingredient. That is the quality control.

  • Made in Australia

Athletic Nutrients is blended and packed in Australia under GMP and TGA facilities. Every ingredient is independently lab tested in Australia before it goes into the blend, and every finished batch is tested again. The label says what is in the pouch because it has been checked, not because we say so.

  • Third-party tested for anti-doping

Every batch is screened by an independent Australian sports drug testing laboratory for substances banned in competition. We did it so that a competitive athlete can take it without a second thought.

If you compete and need a screening certificate for your batch, please email info@luthri.com and we will send it.
